Ready Engineering Corporation has acquired 49.9% of Empac Engineering Ltd. in a move to bolster the quantity of highly-qualified engineering personnel available for its industrial projects in Alberta and nuclear projects internationally. For Empac, the deal expands the depth of industrial electrical and control systems consulting it can offer to clients in British Columbia.
Even before reaching agreement, both companies were benefitting from Empac’s use of Ready expertise for ABB/Bailey Distributed Control System work on the west coast and Ready’s deployment of Empac personnel to one of its nuclear power projects in Massachusetts. Now, the two companies will capitalize on many more such synergies and it is anticipated that Empac will leverage Ready’s management infrastructure to produce industry-leading results.
Empac specializes in electrical engineering in the industrial, municipal, commercial and institutional sectors. An amalgamation of Guido & Associates, LR Pearson and Associates, and Emco Engineering created Empac in 2005. Empac has offices throughout British Columbia: Abbotsford, Castlegar, Kamloops, Kelowna, New Westminster, Trail, and Victoria. With a similar office structure at Ready Engineering, the management needs of the two firms are expected to be similar.
Lee Ready, President of Ready Engineering, explains the rationale for this close partnership: “I have known about Empac from the early days of Ready Engineering, when friends of mine were interviewing for positions in Empac’s Castlegar office. It’s surprising that we’ve never really crossed paths in the marketplace, in spite of the fact that we share at least one very important client in BC! Technically and geographically, the two firms are highly complementary, allowing us to immediately expand the offers that both companies can make to customers.”
The President of Empac, Ken Guido, noted, “I am excited to have Ready Engineering as a partner. This will allow us to broaden our range of services and expertise for larger industrial projects. Our employees will benefit from expanded opportunities to participate in international projects and from access to a larger base of technical expertise to develop innovative solutions. Our customers will benefit by being able to access a deeper pool of talent while we maintain our offices close to customers for efficient response with local service.”
Ready Engineering provides professional engineering consulting services in the areas of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for industrial and utility customers.
