ActiveX Control

Software-based Alarm Display Panel (softADP)

softADP ™ is an ActiveX ® control that replaces the ADP keypad for the Bailey ® DCS. As an ActiveX control, the softADP can be used in Wonderware InTouch or any application that supports ActiveX controls. Click on the option below to view a web page with the actual ActiveX softADP control embedded into it. The softADP has the same functionality and look as the traditional Bailey ADP, but as an ActiveX component, it can be supercharged with custom options and features not available in the Bailey ADP keypad.

The softADP pictured here is implemented on its own dedicated LCD flat panel touch screen. This implementation is used for clients that want state of the art replacement consoles with look, feel, and functionality identical to their existing Bailey consoles that have the Bailey Mylar/LED ADPs. softADP can also be used as a window on a larger display, as shown below.

Click here to see the actual softADP ActiveX control in action (instead of just a picture).

Note: Depending on your Web browser's security settings, you may be prompted to allow ActiveX components to download and run on your machine. You will need to answer "Yes" to these prompts to view the actual ActiveX softADP.

Click here for instructions on how to change your Web browser (Internet Explorer) security settings so that the ActiveX components can be downloaded to run on your computer.

This is a screenshot of softADP being used on a larger display in a Wonderware InTouch application:

Features:

Simple and easy configuration changes in software -- while the console is running. softADP's configuration settings are contained in a file on each local console and a change to the ADP is as simple as changing the local file.

Graphical and audible feedback on depressed keys.

Configurable screen sizes for all shapes and sizes. 8 rows by 4 columns is the Bailey standard, but this is customizable with softADP.

Configurable ADP look:

Classic: Just like the Bailey ADP keypad with red folder graphics and red (and yellow) lamps. Yes, the Bailey ADP had yellow LEDs too, they just were not used!

Enhanced: softADP keys can be configured with customized graphics and text. Each key can be configured with its own graphic to represent its alarm group.

Multiple levels: softADP can be configured to drill down multiple levels.

Configurable blink rates of alarms (blink on and blink off time intervals).

Some Advantages of softADP

One major advantage over Bailey's ADP system is the drilldown menu option in the softADP. The drilldown menus allow the operator to select specific alarms attached to one of the initial keys shown on the softADP screen. The Bailey Mylar ADPs have several alarms, not necessarily in the same alarm group, assigned to each key (lamp) on the ADP. The Bailey ADP has no way to distinguish multiple alarms. With softADP the drilldown menus allow the operator to see all the specific alarms assigned to the key (or lamp).

With softADP the individual alarms associated with each ADP key can reference different pop-up screens, which means that the operator can then jump directly to a detailed display for the alarm instead of a general display. Bailey ADPs support only one display for each key.
